Portrait of Dr. Anca Paunica

Trained across three systems of care — practicing in one place.

I am board certified in Adult and in Child & Adolescent Psychiatry in the United States, trained in France, recognized in Belgium, and certified in integrative psychiatry. I work with the international communities around Brussels in English, French and Romanian.

For many years I trained in evidence-based, allopathic medicine. In recent years my work has deepened toward self-development, spiritual development, energy and vibrational medicine — above all, toward the quality of presence I bring to each encounter, so clinical knowledge can stay in the background while the desire for change comes forward.

Not for emergencies.

Do not use either website for emergencies. If you or someone else is in immediate danger, call 112 now or go to the nearest emergency department.

In Belgium, call Zelfmoordlijn 1813 for Dutch-speaking support or the Centre de Prévention du Suicide on 0800 32 123 for French-speaking support. Both are free, anonymous and available 24/7.

You can call simply because things feel bad and you want someone to talk to. More about urgent support

The approach

A crisis can begin — a process of individuation.

My approach begins by creating an alliance in which you can feel at ease. Treatment starts when you enter the room: our relationship becomes a catalyst for self-knowledge and introspection. The medical assessment is one perspective; after our first meeting, I formulate your situation across four connected levels of analysis, each informing a corresponding level of intervention.

BiologicalSleep, energy, medication, medical history and the body's rhythms.
PsychologicalEmotions, beliefs, development, attachment and inner life.
PsychosocialFamily, school, work, culture, relationships and support.
Values & spiritualityMotivation, meaning, soul-searching and the spiritual dimension.
