When a consultation may help
A consultation may be useful when attention, organization, impulsivity or restlessness persist across settings, interfere with learning, work or relationships, or when the cause remains unclear.

ADHD is not a lack of effort. It can affect how attention, activation, impulses, time, emotions and energy are regulated across the day.
Do not use either website for emergencies. If you or someone else is in immediate danger, call 112 now or go to the nearest emergency department.
In Belgium, call Zelfmoordlijn 1813 in Dutch or the Centre de Prévention du Suicide on 0800 32 123 in French. Both are free, anonymous and available 24/7.
You can call simply because things feel bad and you want someone to talk to.
Is this familiar?
Starting an important task feels unexpectedly difficult, even when you care about it.
Time slips away, deadlines arrive suddenly, or everyday objects keep disappearing.
Your attention is inconsistent: scattered in one setting, intensely absorbed in another.
Organization takes so much effort that ordinary routines become exhausting.
Restlessness, impulsivity or emotional intensity repeatedly creates friction at home, school or work.
These experiences can have many causes. Recognizing them is not an ADHD diagnosis — it is a reason to look carefully at the pattern.
How I approach assessment and treatment
First
I look at when the pattern began, where it appears and how it affects daily life. Sleep, health, medication, learning, mood, anxiety, trauma and substance use can resemble or compound attention difficulties.
Then
We map executive functioning, routines, sensory load, relationships and the environments in which attention improves or collapses. For young people, parent and school perspectives may help complete the picture.
From there
The plan may combine psychoeducation, psychotherapy-informed strategies, parent or school guidance, sleep and routine support, collaboration — and medication when clinically appropriate.
