New patient appointments

Your first appointment starts with an email.

New patients should email the practice before booking. The initial evaluation lasts 90 minutes and costs €220.

Not for emergencies.

Do not use either website for emergencies. If you or someone else is in immediate danger, call 112 now or go to the nearest emergency department.

For support in Belgium, call Zelfmoordlijn 1813 in Dutch or Centre de Prévention du Suicide on 0800 32 123 in French. Both services are free, anonymous and available 24/7.

You do not need to be certain you are going to hurt yourself to call. You can call simply because things feel bad and you want someone to talk to.

How it works

Three steps to request your first appointment.

01

Email the practice

Write to info@drpaunicapsychiatry.be with the patient's name, date of birth, phone number and email address.

02

Find a 90-minute window

Check the Doctoranytime agenda, identify an available 90-minute time window and include your preferred date and time in the email.

03

Wait for confirmation

Choosing a time does not book it. Dr. Paunica will enter the first appointment and confirm it with you.

What to include

Keep your first email short and practical.

Please include only the details needed to arrange the appointment. Do not send a long clinical history by email.

Children and adolescents

For a new child or adolescent patient, a parent must obtain a referral letter from the family physician before the evaluation.

The initial evaluation is 90 minutes and costs €220.

Common questions

Answered plainly.

How do I book an appointment?

If you are a new patient, email info@drpaunicapsychiatry.be with your name, date of birth, phone number, email address and a preferred 90-minute time window from the Doctoranytime agenda. Dr. Paunica will enter and confirm the first appointment.

What does a consultation cost? Is it reimbursed?

I charge reasonable fees but have not adhered to the "convention médico-mutualiste". Fees vary according to the services provided. Time spent in evaluation, treatment, collaboration and report writing may be billed; some activities are captured in codes that can lead to reimbursement by various insurances.

The 90-minute initial evaluation costs €220.

Which languages are consultations in?

English, French and Romanian. Choose the language in which you are most comfortable explaining your situation — the practice serves multilingual and expatriate patients around Brussels.

Do you see children and adolescents?

Yes. I am board certified in both Adult and Child & Adolescent Psychiatry and work with children, adolescents and adults. For a new child or adolescent patient, a parent must obtain a referral letter from the family physician before the 90-minute initial evaluation. The evaluation costs €220.

What happens in a first consultation?

The first evaluation lasts 90 minutes and costs €220. It looks at more than symptoms: medical history, medication, development, family, culture and personal meaning are considered together. By the end, the picture comes together across four levels — biological, psychological, psychosocial, and values, motivation and spirituality — with clear next steps and an explanation you can actually follow.

Are consultations recorded?

Each encounter is documented in an electronic medical record approved by the Belgian state. A recording may be made during the session only to serve as the basis for a note about symptoms and treatment planning — no recording is maintained, and it is erased right after the session.

What if the situation is urgent?

Do not use either website for emergencies. If you or someone else is in immediate danger, call 112 now or go to the nearest emergency department.

In Belgium, Dutch-speaking support is available from Zelfmoordlijn 1813 by calling 1813. French-speaking support is available from the Centre de Prévention du Suicide on 0800 32 123. Both services are free, anonymous and available 24/7.

You do not need to be certain you are going to hurt yourself to call. You can call simply because things feel bad and you want someone to talk to.
