When a consultation may help
A psychiatric consultation may be useful when symptoms persist, interfere with daily life, involve risk, or when medication, medical contributors or a broader treatment plan need careful review.

Depression can affect sleep, energy, appetite, body rhythm, motivation, concentration, relationships and hope.
Do not use either website for emergencies. If you or someone else is in immediate danger, call 112 now or go to the nearest emergency department.
In Belgium, call Zelfmoordlijn 1813 in Dutch or the Centre de Prévention du Suicide on 0800 32 123 in French. Both are free, anonymous and available 24/7.
You can call simply because things feel bad and you want someone to talk to.
Is this you?
The energy for ordinary things has drained away.
Things that used to matter don't seem to reach you anymore.
Guilt or shame sits in the background of most days.
You are more irritable than you recognize yourself to be.
Sleep and appetite have quietly changed.
Recognizing a few of these is not a diagnosis — it is a reason to look closer.
How I approach treatment
First
I look beyond mood alone: medical contributors, medication history, grief and stress, anxiety or trauma overlap, and the daily routines and support around you.
Then
I explain what may be driving the symptoms — biologically, psychologically and contextually — so the plan makes sense before it starts.
From there
We may combine psychotherapy-informed work, sleep and lifestyle stabilization, coordination with other clinicians — and medication when clinically necessary.
